Reliable water treatment installation with PE and PVC

AVR specializes in processing various types of residual waste, converting it into energy and raw materials for households and businesses to achieve a cleaner world.

For one of these processes, AVR needed a reliable water treatment installation. This water treatment installation required the transportation and storage of five different types of chemicals, using plastic piping systems and plastic tanks. Due to the multitude of parameters, three different types of plastics were used for this project: PVC, PE, and PFA.

PVC

Plastic piping systems and semi-finished products are widely used in the water industry (drinking water, industrial water, and wastewater). This is due to, among other things, the cleanliness, chemical resistance, low weight, ease of processing, and reliability of plastics. PVC was the solution for this project because of its chemical resistance combined with mechanical properties.

PE

The storage tanks are made of PE sheet material. This choice was made because of its high chemical resistance, pressure tolerance, and temperature range of the media.

PFA

Finally, part of the installation is made of PFA. This fluoroplastic was chosen due to the desired lifespan in combination with the media being transported.
